Privacy Policy

zinkwazibeach.africa (“the Site”) is a community tourism website for Zinkwazi Beach, KwaZulu-Natal, operated by Leorian Digital Marketing, Durban, South Africa (“we”, “us”). We respect your privacy and process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights.

1. Information we collect

• Business listings. When you list a business via our Google Form we collect the business name, category, description, website, WhatsApp/contact number, address, logo and your consent to publish. This information is published on the Site because you asked us to.
• Event submissions. When you submit an event poster we collect the poster image, event details and a contact number, which are published on the Site.
• Instagram content. We display public Instagram posts tagged #zinkwazi using Instagram’s official embed. We do not collect data from those accounts; Instagram’s own policy applies.
• Usage data. Standard server logs and, if enabled, privacy-respecting analytics (page views, device type, approximate location, referrer). We do not use this to identify you personally.

2. Why we process it

To publish the directory, map and events you have asked us to publish; to keep the Site secure and working; to respond to your requests; and to understand how the Site is used so we can improve it. Our lawful basis is your consent (listings, events) and our legitimate interest in running the Site (security, usage data).

3. Third-party services

The Site uses Google Forms and Google Sheets (submissions and directory data), Google Maps and OpenStreetMap/Carto (maps), Open-Meteo (weather and tides), Instagram and YouTube (embedded media), and Wordfence (security). These providers may set cookies or process your IP address under their own privacy policies.

4. Cookies

The Site itself sets only essential cookies needed for it to function. Embedded services (Instagram, YouTube, Google Maps) may set their own cookies when their content loads. You can block cookies in your browser settings.

5. Sharing

We do not sell personal information. Listing and event details you submit are public by design. We share data only with the service providers above, or where the law requires.

6. Retention

Listings and events stay published until you ask us to remove them or they expire (past events drop off automatically). Server logs are kept for a limited period for security purposes.

7. Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information, withdraw consent, or object to processing. To update or remove a listing or event, email admin@leorian.co.za. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.

8. Security

We use HTTPS, a web application firewall and access controls to protect the Site. No method of transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

The Site is not directed at children under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
